Psalm 1: Obedience of the saved

Hello again friends and followers! Congratulations to all of you who managed to keep up with the studies in Leviticus! We got there in the end and it wasn't so bad after all (I hope you agree!).

I just wanted to let you know that Courtney over at Women Living Well (whose schedule we follow) is taking a break from today until 15th June when she is leading us in the book of Proverbs and then the Song of Solomon. Since I don't like to not be reading and studying God's Word, I'll be staying on here with some studies in the book of Psalms in the meantime. I think after Leviticus, something easier and comforting is a must!

I am using Courtney's Bible colouring chart which I am just getting used to, but I find it very helpful. It is also available in bookmark form.

Here is a picture of my highlighting for today in Psalm 1.

Lots of green highlighting which means 'obedience'.

Verse 1. 'Happy' is that person, man or woman, who stays close to God and steers clear of worldly wisdom, the paths of those who don't care about God's laws and who doesn't sit down and have fellowship with those who make mockery of and fun of God's holy Word.

Verse 2. The person who loves God's Word spends a lot of time reading, studying and learning it, is also that happy person.

Verse 3. The blessed man/woman will be fruitful, successful and prosperous. Don't mistake these blessings for always being fame, wealth or ambition. God has other ways of blessing His people...with peace, contentment, joy in the face of trials.

Verses 4 and 5. We need to pray for those who are still unsaved because on the Day of Judgment, they will not be able to stand confidently before a holy God, knowing they don't need to be afraid of hell; there will be no place for the unsaved in heaven with those who have been saved by God's grace.

Verse 6. When we read the word 'righteous', this does not mean 'self-righteousness' referring to those people who think they are Christians because they do good works. No, this refers to God's redeemed people , who are only made righteous because they have accepted God's free offer of salvation and who wear the robe of Christ's righteousness.

How wonderful to know today that God knows our path! He leads and guides us and keeps His eye upon us. Dear unsaved person, please be aware that there is a warning here for you and turn to Christ for salvation.

Prayer matters;
♥   Pray for your dear loved ones and friends to accept Christ's offer of salvation and witness to them of His great love for them
♥   Ask the Lord to help you to make time time to read, study and learn from His Word
♥   Ask Him to help you to obey His Word

Hugs, Karen x
